How we collect, use, and protect your data

This Privacy Policy applies to all users of HIV Positive Matrimony ("the Platform"). By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

📋 1. Information We Collect

  • •Account Information: Name, username, email, date of birth, gender.
  • •Profile Information: Health details (HIV diagnosis date, CD4 count), family details, location, religion, caste, horoscope, habits, preferences.
  • •Photos: Profile pictures you choose to upload, subject to your privacy settings.
  • •Communications: Messages sent through our in-app chat system.
  • •Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device information, login timestamps.
  • •Payment Data: Subscription payment references (we do not store full card details).

  • •To provide and personalise the matrimony matchmaking service.
  • •To send you relevant match notifications and platform updates.
  • •To ensure platform security and detect fraudulent activity.
  • •To comply with legal obligations.
  • •To process subscription payments.
  • •To improve our platform through aggregated, anonymised analytics.

🔐 3. Privacy Controls

  • •You control who can see your profile photos (All / Only interested members / Selected members only).
  • •You control who can see your contact details.
  • •You can block specific users from viewing your profile.
  • •You can deactivate your account at any time, removing your profile from search results.
  • •You can permanently delete your account, which anonymises all personal data within 30 days.

🤝 4. Data Sharing

  • •We never sell your personal data to third parties.
  • •We share data only with: (a) service providers bound by confidentiality (hosting, email), (b) law enforcement when legally required.
  • •Health information (HIV status, CD4 count) is never shared without your explicit consent.
  • •Match data (profiles you've expressed interest in) is shared only with the matched party.

🛡️ 5. Data Security

  • •All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption).
  • •Passwords are hashed using bcrypt (cost 12) — we cannot see your password.
  • •Profile photos are stored on our secure server with access controlled by your privacy settings.
  • •We conduct regular security reviews and penetration testing.

📅 6. Data Retention

  • •Active account data is retained while your account is active.
  • •On account deletion: PII (name, email, phone, health data) is anonymised within 30 days.
  • •Anonymised interaction data (matches, interests) may be retained for platform analytics.
  • •Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by Indian law.

  • •We use analytics cookies (optional) to understand how users interact with the platform.
